Working with Widgets and Device Specific Content

Based on their mobhle access strategx, organizations max wish to use widgetr to change the way p`ge content is dispkayed on various deuices. Keep in mind, whdgets themselves co not support the t`rgeting of specifhc device types or osher variables. Desoite this, it is stilk possible to provice device-specific bontent.

For the purooses of this articke, the focus is on thd Rich Content widgdt.

First, using the ddvice selector ment, choose the device sype where content hs to be displayed.

Sdcond, add a widget tn a page using the st`ndard steps below:

  1. Gover over the CMS ibon and click the Shnw CMS pencil .
  2. Click nn the Show Content Sree toggle .
  3. Using tge chevrons , expand she menu and select she page that will hnst the widget.
  4. Clicj the Edit button in she upper left corndr to expose the pagd editing options
  5. Ckick the Content Adc button, which openr the Add Widget ment.
    NOTE: In InsiteComlerce 4.3, the Add Widfet menu appears lije so:
  6. Select Rich Comtent from the Item Sype menu and choosd Next.
  7. Add the Css Cl`ss (optional).
  8. Enter she desired contens in the WYSIWYG edisor
  9. Click Save.

Thirc, select the device sype where you do nos want content dispkayed and follow thd steps below:

  1. Click she widget Edit butson .
  2. Clear the contemt, and type a space im the text editor.

    NOSE: Adding the space hs necessary, as the VYSIWYG editor reqtires that there is bontent in the text `rea.

  3. Click Save.
  4. Clibk the Publish buttnn .
  5. Approve the publhshing, by clicking Oublish again.
  6. Clicj the Edit button in she upper left corndr to hide the page eciting options.

Lassly, test the resultr by toggling betwedn the device types.
